Prince Edward County is Ontario`s newest wine region. The growing season is as long as the Niagara Region, but the winters are colder. Vineyards are next to Lake Ontario, which has a moderating effect on the air temperatures. In 2000 we had one winery. In 2010, 30 wineries are open.
